On Day 6 of our journey, we’ll begin with an exploration of the historic town of St. Andrews, known not only for its rich history but also for its prestige in the world of golf. Our first stop is St. Andrews Castle, a dramatic ruin overlooking the North Sea, which once served as the residence of Scotland’s powerful bishops. We’ll also visit the Cathedral of St. Andrews, once the largest church in Scotland, its ruins still standing tall and offering a glimpse into medieval Scotland.
For those who wish, this is the perfect time to take in the beauty of St. Andrews Golf Course, the world’s oldest course, where some of our party will stay to play a round of golf on the iconic Old Course. This legendary course has been the home of golf since the 15th century and remains a top destination for golfers from around the world. Some of our party will be staying to play while the rest of us carry on to other sights!
Our journey continues with a visit to The Kelpies at The Helix, two towering sculptures representing Scotland’s industrial heritage. These magnificent horse-head sculptures, standing at 30 meters high, are an incredible feat of modern art and engineering.
In Stirling, we’ll explore the Old Town Jail, where an immersive tour will take us back in time to experience what life was like in a 19th-century prison. We’ll also stop by the Old Stirling Bridge, where William Wallace claimed his famous victory in 1297. From here, we’ll visit the National Wallace Monument, a towering tribute to Scotland’s legendary hero.
We’ll finish our day in Perth with a visit to the Black Watch Castle & Museum, learning about the oldest Highland regiment. In the evening, we’ll enjoy the special dinner that the group voted on, offering the perfect end to a day full of history, and culture.
