Day 8 begins in Inverness as we make our way towards Fort William, with some exciting stops along the way. We’ll catch a glimpse of the famous Jacobite Steam Train (also known as the “Wizard Train” from the Harry Potter films) as it passes through the Highlands. Then, we’ll visit Inverness Castle, an iconic landmark offering stunning views of the River Ness and surrounding city.
Next, we’ll take a relaxing stroll through the Inverness Botanical Gardens, followed by a visit to the historic Culloden Battlefield & Monument, where the last battle of the Jacobite Rising took place in 1746. This solemn site offers a powerful glimpse into Scotland’s past.
We’ll continue our day at Urquhart Castle, a dramatic ruin on the shores of Loch Ness. We’ll also enjoy a scenic Loch Ness Cruise, where we can take in the famous lake and maybe even spot the elusive Nessie!
In the afternoon, we’ll stop at Leaky’s Bookshop, a charming treasure trove of rare books and Scottish literature, before enjoying a whisky tasting at Glenfiddich to round off the day.
Finally, we’ll end our day in Fort William, staying at the cozy Nevis Bank Inn & Brown’s Restaurant, where we’ll enjoy a relaxing evening and a delicious meal.
