The Kelpies, located within The Helix Park in Falkirk, are the world’s largest equine sculptures, standing 30 meters tall. Created by artist Andy Scott, these impressive steel structures were inspired by the heavy horses that powered Scotland’s industry, especially along its canal systems. The name “Kelpie” is drawn from Scottish mythology, referring to shape-shifting water spirits often depicted as horses. The Kelpies beautifully blend Scotland’s industrial heritage with its folklore, symbolizing strength, endurance, and transformation.
Visitors can enjoy a tour inside the Kelpies to learn about their engineering and the story behind their creation. The surrounding Helix Park offers scenic walking paths, a lagoon, picnic areas, and an adventure playground, making it an ideal spot for a full day’s outing with family and friends.
